Well, here we go: new comic, first page!

This comic is subtitled "A Northumbrian Folktale...ish" because it is inspired by folk stories from Northumberland, the northern most county of England which was part of the Kingdom of Northumbria at the time this comic is set. Northumbria was a vibrant cultural powerhouse at the time, trading for resources from across Europe and producing incredible sculptures and manuscripts. I've also incorporated folk tales from the subsequent centuries, and added in a dollop of my own ideas.

Speaking of manuscripts, that little island in the background is meant to be Lindisfarne, of the Lindisfarne Gospels fame! other people geek out about the Lindisfarne Gospels, or is it just me and my Nerdy Medievalist Tendancies?

I've had that title floating around in my head for ages, it's taken a while to come up with a story to fit it!

SO MANY KITTES. Only cats could turn a dying woman into their own personal hot water bottle/bed.

Yay, thank you! This was definitely the longest amount of time I think I've ever spent on a single comic page, I'm pleased to hear it paid off!

You have such a nice clean art style.

Thank you! That's great feedback for this page especially, as I was worried that it was getting a bit overworked and unclear. Finding a style of colouring for this comic that looks good but doesn't take me too long has been a problem!

I can't wait to see you work in color!! I'm excited to follow one of your stories from the beginning. The lighting here is lovely!

I think the colors are excellent. Again it is nice and clean. Very subtle. You clearly understand the concept of 'less is more'.

I've heard of the Lindisfarne Gospels. *search...* A beautiful book! *read...* The oldest survivng translation into any form of English! Wow!

... And part of the very first collection of books held by the British nation rather than individuals!
